Description of Work:

Dalo Jewels uses textile techniques in metal, the art of wire weaving, crocheting with wire, wire knitting, and the use of precious metal clay, to create sensational one of a kind custom designed handcrafted jewellery.

The wire weaved pieces start with wire on a spool and each stone is then hand knotted or weaved to create a strand of gems and wire. These strands are then combined using sterling silver clasp to form the finished piece of jewellery.

Crochet has enormous range of scales, patterns, materials, and styles. It can be delicate and dainty or it can be massive and heavy.

Extremely simple pieces can be made using only chain stitch, and highly complex pieces can be made using pattern stitches. Gemstones, pearls, and beads can be incorporated with any basic crochet stitch.

Another technique used is to have each gemstone individually wrapped with sterling silver and then held together by wire or chain to form a finished piece.

Wire knitting is used to create Viking chains to be used as components in the finished jewellery. Precious metal clay (PMC) is also used to create jewellery components.
