Ontario Crafts Council Privacy Policy

Our Commitment

Ontario Crafts Council is committed to protecting the privacy of the personal information of its members, donors, employees and other stakeholders. Ontario Crafts Council values the trust of all those with whom we interact. We recognize that maintaining this trust requires that we be transparent and accountable in how we treat the information that you choose to share with us.

During the course of our various projects and activities, Ontario Crafts Council frequently gathers and uses personal information. Anyone from whom we collect such information should expect that it will be carefully protected and that any use of or other dealing with this information other than the purpose for which it was collected is subject to consent. Ontario Crafts Council's privacy practices are designed to achieve this.

The information provided to us is used: to help us in fulfilling our mission, including our fundraising activities, to process and receipt donations, to respond to information requests, and to communicate future events or promotions.

Defining Personal Information

Personal Information is any information that can be used to distinguish, identify or contact a specific individual. This information may include an individual's opinions or beliefs, as well as facts about, or related to, the individual. Exceptions: business contact information and certain publicly available information, such as names, addresses and telephone numbers as published in telephone and web directories, are not considered personal information.

Where an individual uses his or her home contact information as business contact information as well, Ontario Crafts Council considers that the contact information provided is business contact information, and is not therefore subject to protection as personal information.

Privacy Practices

Personal information gathered by Ontario Crafts Council is kept in confidence. Ontario Crafts Council employees, agents, officers and directors are authorized to access personal information based only on their need to deal with the information for the reason(s) for which it was obtained. Safeguards are in place to ensure that the information is not disclosed or shared more widely than is necessary to achieve the purpose for which it was gathered. We also take measures to ensure the integrity of this information is maintained and to prevent its being lost or destroyed. The information is kept up to date and accurate. Information that is no longer relevant will be disposed of appropriately.

Under no circumstances does Ontario Crafts Council sell, barter or lease its member or donor lists to other organizations.

We collect, use and disclose personal information only for purposes that a reasonable person would consider appropriate in light of the circumstances.

Web Site and Electronic Commerce

Ontario Crafts Council does not store personal information on the Web site that is collected through the site. Information is automatically sent to the appropriate program within the Ontario Crafts Council office.

Updating of Privacy Policy

Ontario Crafts Council reviews its privacy practices regularly and constantly revises the policy.
