Ontario Arts Council Exhibition Assistance Program

The OCC is a third-party recommender for the Ontario Arts Council Exhibition Assistance Program. The program provides individual artists with $500 to $1500 to assist with the cost involved in producing, or taking part in, an upcoming exhibition.

Overall, grants are made through third-party recommenders such as public art galleries, artist-run centres and arts services organizations throughout Ontario. As an OAC Exhibition Assistance program recommender, the OCC accepts craft-related applications from across Ontario. Approved applications are reviewed by a committee and forwarded to the OAC once the grant recipients are chosen.

The OCC's upcoming application submission deadlines are:

  • July 30th, 2011

  • November 16th, 2011

Notes from past grant recipient: Catherine Vamvakas Lay

Catherine applied for an OAC Exhibition Assistance grant after being curated into a group exhibition at the Agnes Jamieson Gallery in Minden, Ontario. Around the Frayed Edges featured the work of twenty-seven fibre artists, including Catherine's work entitled "Dream" (see images below). The show was on display from March 18th to May 29th, 2010.

The exhibition delved into the detail and intricacy of fibre arts and spun a narration through work that pushed the boundaries of contemporary fibre art.

In her budget of eligible expenses Catherine requested funding for her presentation materials as well as for the crating and transportation of her work.
